Diese „extreme Herausforderung“ habe kein Bergsteiger vor ihm geschafft.<BR />Skiabfahrten am Mount Everest hat es zwar schon mehrfach gegeben, aber noch nie durchgehend und ohne Flaschensauerstoff. 2.000 hatte der Slowene Davorin Karnicar die erste vollständige Skiabfahrt vom Gipfel geschafft, allerdings mit Flaschensauerstoff.<h3> Bereits vom K2 hinuntergefahren</h3>2018 war Bargiel bereits auf Skiern vom Gipfel des K2 hinuntergefahren. Einen ersten Versuch am Mount Everest hatte er 2019 abgebrochen, weil ein riesiger Eisbrocken abzubrechen drohte. Auch ein zweiter Versuch 2022 scheiterte, weil starker Wind wehte. Im dritten Anlauf war er nun aber erfolgreich. Bargiels Team sprach in einer Erklärung von einem „bahnbrechenden Meilenstein in der Welt des Skibergsteigens“. <BR /><BR />Der polnische Regierungschef Donald Tusk schrieb im Onlinedienst X: „Der Himmel ist die Grenze? Nicht für Polen! Andrzej Bargiel ist gerade mit Skiern den Mount Everest hinuntergefahren.“
