„Es geht ihm besser und er ist guter Dinge“, teilte das Team des in Bergamo geborenen 58-Jährigen in den sozialen Medien mit, um Familie und die zahlreichen Fans zu beruhigen, nachdem einige Medien begonnen hatten, über seinen Schwächeanfall zu berichten.<BR /><BR />Moro hielt sich im Khumbu-Tal auf, um sich vor dem geplanten Winteraufstieg auf den Manaslu, dem achtthöchsten Berg der Welt, zu akklimatisieren. Begleitet wurde er dabei vom jungen Nepalesen Nima Rinji Sherpa und vom polnischen Fotografen Oswald Rodrigo Pereira. Am Freitag fühlte er sich in Khare, einem kleinen Dorf auf etwas mehr als 5.000 Metern Höhe, unwohl. Am Vortag hatte er den Mera Peak bestiegen, der mit 6.476 Metern zu den höchsten Gipfeln des Himalaya zählt.<h3> „Kein Anlass zur Sorge“</h3>„Nach dem Erreichen des Gipfels und dem Abstieg vom Mera Peak verspürte er während einer Wanderung ein starkes Unwohlsein“, erklärte das Team des Alpinisten. Nach einer Live-Videoschaltung mit seinen Vertrauensärzten in Italien sei ein sofortiger medizinischer Transport organisiert worden. Moro wurde am darauffolgenden Tag per Hubschrauber nach Kathmandu geflogen, wo derzeit weitere Untersuchungen vorgenommen werden.<BR /><BR />Sein Zustand gibt nach Angaben des Teams derzeit keinen Anlass zur Sorge. Dennoch seien „eingehende medizinische Untersuchungen“ notwendig, um ernsthafte Erkrankungen auszuschließen und eine Entlassung zu ermöglichen. „Derzeit gibt es keine Neuigkeiten. So wurde er 2011 beim Abstieg vom Gasherbrum II von einer Lawine erfasst, bei der sein österreichischen Seilpartner Gerfried Göschl und der Sherpa Nawang Sherpa ums Leben kamen; ihre Leichen wurden nie gefunden. Im Jänner 2020 geriet Moro ebenfalls am Gasherbrum gemeinsam mit der KarneiderinTamara Lunger in einen Gletscherspalt. Beide überlebten, die Expedition musste jedoch abgebrochen werden.
